MERREXMAS!

Every year, thousands of Christmas trees are dumped on the streets. Such a waste of that beautiful wood.
It takes a Christmas tree 10 years to grow, so i wanted to give them a second life.
I handcrafted a Christmas tree, made from a Christmas tree, to hang in your Christmas tree.

COLLECTING THE WOOD FROM CHRISTMAS TREE TRUNKS

I started this project in 2014, and collected a few christmas tree trunks on the street. The next year, i asked friends & family to save their tree trunks and collected some more on the streets.

Saw, sanding, scraping, cutting and burning

Making slices of the tree trunks so i can make christmas tree shapes takes up most of the work. Luckily i had some help from my friends over at Nederlands Hout with that.

Different sizes

All the trunks have different sizes, so i needed to make a lot of different Christmas Tree models.

Let the wood dry

Pine wood needs to dry for at least a month before you can work with it, so i made sure my tree trunks were nice and dry when i started.
